Tropical Caramel-Glazed Plantains – Platanos en Tentacion

These fried plantains with their sweet, caramelized flavors and soft texture are a sensation for your taste buds! What’s more? They are also very simple and easy to prepare and don’t require much effort on the part of the cook. The total time required for to make them is only 40 minutes and they last as long as 9 servings!

Ingredients:

  • 3 Ripe Plantains
  • 4 Tablespoons of Butter
  • 6 Tablespoons of White or Brown Sugar
  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 7 Cloves
  • 2 Cups of Water

Prep time: 10 min.  Total time:  40 min.

Directions:

Peel the plantains and cut them into 3 pieces each.

Place the butter to melt in a hot pan over medium heat and place the ripe plantains to golden. Once they are golden brown, turn off the heat.

In another pan, place the 6 tablespoons of sugar to melt until the caramel is knitted. Place all the plantains in the pan and add 2 cups of warm water so that it does not lose heat. Add the 3 cinnamon sticks and the 7 cloves. Let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring until they are soft and caramelized.

This dish can be eaten alone or with our delicious Rice with Chicken and Beet Salad.
