Tropical Rice With Milk

Rice with milk (Arroz con Leche) is known in the entire of Latin America for its mouth-watering appearance and delicious taste. The dish is prepared with rice, milk, raisins, cinnamon, and a few other ingredients. This recipe is a variation of the dish from Panama and is a must-try.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 3 cup of water
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • cinnamon powder

Directions:

Pour 3 cups of water into a pot and add four cinnamon sticks and half a teaspoon of salt. Boil over medium heat until the water turns the color of cinnamon.

In the pot, mix the three types of milk, then put the mix over medium heat until it is warm and turn the heat off.

Wash the rice to remove the starch. Once it is ready, add it to the cinnamon water, and then stir and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the water should be absorbed. Add the milk mixture to the rice and cook for half an hour.

Watch it for a few minutes, stirring constantly so that the rice does not stick. After half an hour, add a half cup of raisins and cinnamon powder, and the dessert is ready.
